Clomid For Men

Clomid is now being used largely by men as well, sometimes irrespective of the possible outcomes it could have. As a drug it raises the sperm count in males by stimulating their sperm creating hormones. Results may not always be immediate but are most often assured. Around eighty percent of the men who have consumed Clomid have shown positive results, i.e. a significant rise in their sperm count around a week later.
Men are also prone to taking Clomid as a means of enhancing the amount of testosterone that the male body produces. This acts like a steroid and is soon gaining popularity among bodybuilders who believe that this drug may have less harmful side effects than hitherto used steroids. Most often, however, Clomid is clubbed with other drugs to bring out the best results for muscle mass creation. Whatever the dosage or the circumstance under which the drug is consumed, always consult a physician before consuming the drug in even the slightest amount. A wrong dosage may play havoc with your metabolism and can have very adverse and long lasting effects.

The Side Effects Of Clomid

It is absolutely necessary for you to go through a thorough physical examination and have a pregnancy test taken to ensure that you are not pregnant before taking Clomid. Don't ever rule out the possibility of falling pregnant in between Clomid dosages.

Of course, your doctor will perform the necessary tests on you, but you need to check if there are cysts, on or inside your ovaries, as falling pregnant in such a condition might be dangerous for you. Also, any kind of discomfort or weight gain or even pain in the abdomen or pelvic area should not be treated as normal. Even the slightest swelling that you may experience should not be neglected.

Ovulation induced pregnancies can also lead to complications (offshoots from artificial processes) such as conception of twins or triplets etc. A vague possibility, but a possibility nonetheless is the occurrence of an ectopic pregnancy where you could conceive outside the womb.

To avoid the risk of Ovarian Cancer, doctors generally advise their patients to restrict themselves to a maximum of five or six dosages of clomid because sustained treatment could cause unwanted tissue to grow.

Among the lesser side effects you might experience blurriness of vision or slight impairments for the same. So although there remains nothing serious to worry about, if this happens, you might want to get you eyes checked by a trusted opthalmologist.

When do i take clomid?

You usually start taking clomid during your period and the consumption starts on the third, fourth or fifth day, depending on the advice of your doctor. Clomid is consumed for five days. So if your doctor gives you five pills then its one pill a day, if he gives you ten then its two pills a day and so on and so forth. Initially he will start you off with five and then if it doesn't work he will raise the dosage or double it to ten.
Ideally however you should start on day 9 of your cycle which means that you will ovulate around the fourteenth day. During this period choose to have intercourse every other day so that it gives your system and your partner's adequate time to recuperate and the semen count will also be replenished thus increasing your chances of conceiving. So from the 14th day of your cycle till the 19th day of your cycle you should be able to conceive.
Coming back to when you should start Clomid dosage. Your doctor will more often than not tell you that it is better to start on day 5 (cd5) of your cycle rather than day 3 (cd3). Yes both of them do remain usable options and both have their setbacks so the doctor, after examining you thoroughly will be able to tell you which works best for your body and cycle.

When will I ovulate after taking clomid?

After taking Clomid (Clomiphene), which is used for treating infertility in women, you should ovulate in about 5 to 9 days after taking the last Clomid tablet. Clomid works in most cases where there are no complications and induces ovulation within the mentioned period. However you must remember that everyone's body is different, physically and chemically and that means that you may take a slightly longer period to experience ovulation than in other women. But this doesn't meant that it isn't working. For instance if your taking Clomid as per prescription then you will ideally ovulate in the 14th to the 16th day of your cycle. Sometimes, as stated before, because of hormonal differences, you might even ovulate in the 19th day or the 20th day of your cycle.
There is also the option of an Ovulation Predictor Kit. These generally do come for quite a price(£18.00 or $30.00) but it is worth it if you have the money. You receive seven such sticks in a pack that you can use to check if you are ovulating and then take the necessary measures to conceive. The general rule, if your facing a problem and have to use clomid i.e., is that once you ovulate, start pursue timed intercourse or what is clinically known as IUI.
